Each one teach one
This initiative is inspired to motivate and restore hope among the youths who are faced by myriads of challenges; with unemployment being key. Our programs aim to support and empower youth and children in Dandora informal settlement and its environs through sustainable socio-economic initiatives and as a result improving their living standards. Our vision is to enable a global culture that values change making, innovation and social entrepreneurship by reinventing the role of sports and art in addressing social ills affecting children and youths in urban and peri urban communities. MAONO stands for ‘Miradi Anzisha Onyesha Njia Okoa’ (Initiation of projects that transform lives), which was inspired by Maono cultural group envisioning to create, design and develop a youth empowerment center.
MAONO Africa designs and implements social transformation initiatives that conducts risk assessment, identifies area of interventions that the target audience is taken through. This is a holistic community experience to support the young people joining MAONO through sports and arts and other forms of creative arts, talents and abilities. Through the program, the project beneficiaries gain awareness, skills and experience to make better life choices for themselves and serve as change makers
MAONO Africa’s theory of change is based on the fact that changing systems required one to build a model of social transformation that has the potential to be scaled to realize impact in the community and society at large. MAONO is thus building a model of youth social transformation that can be adopted across sectors for holistic societal transformation.
