LIVELIHOOD
The high rate of unemployment among young people continues to be a pressing challenge for the
government and policy makers. Urban informal settlements where majority of the low-income
youth reside and youth leaving school migrate to, are faced with numerous challenges related to
unemployment. Maono Africa in addressing this challenge focusses on empowering youths
through provisions of vocational and technical skills and work readiness training to improve
access to formal employment and/or self-employment/business. Anchored in tapping in and
developing latent talents among the youths, the project leverage on social entrepreneurship
training with a focus on youths monetizing their inherent talents, skills and abilities. The projects
continues to builds youths capacities through business, entrepreneurship and financial literacy
training hence promoting their employability.
